The Western Disaster Center Institute for Wildfire Policy and Technology has been established to manage the WDC's initiatives related to wildfire mitigation, planning, response and recovery, including:

  • Policy changes that will improve how the nation can address the complicated issues associated with the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI). 
  • Technologies that can improve the wildfire command and control process.
  • A resource to enhance decision maker and public awareness concerning the potential of advanced technology in the wildfire response mission
